With Fall behind us and Winter here, the sunroofs in our vehicles have the highest odds of leaking and need a little maintenance to avoid unwanted water in our cars. Leaves falling, acorns dropping and dust in the air create an ideal situation for clogged drains lines overflowing into our cars.
A sunroof is built with a “mote” around the perimeter under the glass and drain holes on all four corners. The sunroof glass keeps 90% of the water out and the small amount of water that is allowed to come in enters the mote and goes out through the drain holes. Following the long, hot, dry summer we had, the drain lines become very dusty and even though a sunroof may not have been opened, small leaves and dirt find their way into the sunroof cavity. It does not take much to clog a small whole and cost a great inconvenience.
Prior to a leak or after it has happened, we can bring your vehicle into the shop, perform a 30-45 minute service on the unit by clearing drain lines, greasing the slides and getting you on your way. When it comes to sunroofs, a little maintenance goes along ways!
Driving into work today, of course I noticed when I needed them, my windshield wipers were providing very little help and then I began to think. Shocks, Wipers, spare tire and brake lights; how often do I really check these until itâs crunch time and I am depending on them?
I can check off on one of the items, the brake lights. Any chance I have I will check to make sure they work in the reflection of a store front or if I am backed up close to a wall. I have always made it a habit to back into parking spots so this has been a easy thing to check. On almost all newer vehicles the vehicle itself will tell you if the tire pressure is low or a bulb is out but in my 2006 it’s all up to me. The brake light bulbs and turn signals are not something you can avoid going out unless you change them at certain intervals even when they still work but for the other three we can be on the front side and help ourselves out so much; plus, be safer.
If you do not have TPMS sensors ( Tire Pressure Monitor System) on your vehicle which everything after 2007 has this, then a simple, quick check with a hand held gauge needs to be a regular task for you. The sticker in the door jam tells you what you should have in each tire and only take a few minutes to check all tires, even the spare!
Planning for the shocks and wipers is a time/ mileage assessment. Shocks should be changed every 60,000 miles or less and the wipers once a year at most. It doesn’t matter how good a car runs if you canât see or drive under control!
Many, if not all of these items are routinely checked if you take your vehicle in for regular service at a dealership but it’s still a great idea to check them. It won’t be the dealership on the side of the road, it will be you!
Complete Car Protection
Being a Llumar dealer gives us the ability to provide complete protection for you and your carâs interior/ exterior. The opportunity to do automotive window tinting came our way a few years after opening our doors in 1989. With us being a glass shop, it only made since to also tint the glass we installed. Once we started learning the benefits of window tinting and, the simple fact that it makes a car look good, we were all in! Â All these years later it is even better with more benefits, applications, and a large support network anytime we need it. We became a Llumar dealer directly after we began tinting and nearly 30 years later we are still partnered with them. Here at Gaston we strive to give and be the best, with Llumar we are!
Not stopping at interior protection, we also install exterior paint protection that is a clear film which is almost undetectable to the eye. With carrying a 10 year warranty to not discolor or peel, your paint is in good hands from road debris, car washes, run away shopping carts and much more. The film is even âself-healingâ just because there is a scratch in the film doesn’t mean it is permanent. With the correct amount of direct applied heat the scratch will disappear before your eyes!
Whether inside or out, with Llumar films we have your vehicle protected and looking great!
Ultimate Truck Bed Protection!
The sky is the limit when it comes to spray on bedliner applications. With virtually any surface capable of being sprayed and a choice of color and thickness, you are always covered. The most popular application is pickup truck beds and we have been applying bedliner to them for over 15 years. We are an authorized Ultimate Linings dealer and use their High pressure Xtreme liner truck bedliner. Over the last few years Ultimate Linings has grown tremendously by having the contracts at many OEM vehicle manufacturing facilities where they install spray on bedlinerâs on the assembly line. Many dealerships recognize the appeal and benefit to having the bed protected from its start and have them coated before they reach the dealership; this is a good choice and fortunately for us we offer the exact same chemical and quality that the manufacturer trusts and depends on.
Your truck may not come with one from its birth but we, daily, add spray on bedlinerâs to them. No matter its state, a pickup truck bed can be coated and protected from the elements. A spray on bedliner offers many perks with it being skid resistant, able to absorb impact and is cosmetically appealing. Our chemical is a two-part mixture, applied at 2100 psi with an 8 second hardening time; the chemical is cured to the touch almost instantly and ready for any use within the first day. Once itâs on, itâs not coming off; there are cases where we have removed bedliner from vehicles for numerous different reasons and when we do it takes a lot of âelbow greaseâ. With it being a permanent application and its life time warranty, you can feel confident that it will stand up to the elements and bring the life expectancy you require.
If you can think it, we can spray it! Boat, jeep and truck interiors, trailers and flat beds are only some of the application possibilities; with the correct primers and promotors we are able to expand our application options and meet your needs. Remember, âThe sky is the limitâ!
